Seniors Head Coach Announcement

We are delighted to announce the appointment of our new Seniors Head Coach Grant Keeler!

We are looking forward to preseason already and more details will follow on the official start date of that so keep your eyes peeled. Before that though get to know our new Head Coach:

Whats your playing and coaching background?

Playing Career:

U10s - Colts at North Walsham RFC

3 years of uni rugby at University of Herts from 1996-1999 with a season training in Saracens Academy

15 years of seniors at Welwyn from 2000-2015

Last season as captain led the club to promotion and Hertfordshire presidents tankard victory

Coaching career:

Welwyn 2020-2023 Assistant/forwards coach

2021-2022 gained promotion to level 7 with Welwyn and won the Hertfordshire presidents tankard

2022-2023 achieved a mid table finish in our first season in a higher league

Why did you want to join the Vee’s?

As soon as I received an initial email from the club I started looking into the team and the club as a whole. The club seems to be a true community club offering grassroots rugby to the surrounding area. After meeting with the first team manager and subsequently others members of the club I got a good feel about the direction it is travelling both in increasing numbers and promoting the younger players and incorporating the colts into the senior sides. I see Vee’s as the perfect place to improve the whole playing side of the club and to allow me to develop myself as a head coach of an up and coming setup
